Maintain A Long-term Relationship With Your Dentist

By maintaining a long-term relationship with your family dentist, you’re more likely to get the treatment that’s best for you.  That’s the opinion of Pioneer Valley Dental dentist, Dr. R. Taylor World.

“As is the case with many things in life, a long-term relationship with your dentist can reap many benefits.  If you’ve been going to the same dentist for several years, he or she knows your teeth and your teeth’s history, including past problems and solutions to those problems.  A dentist who has seen you every six months also has a pretty good understanding of how fast decay forms in your mouth,” Dr. World  said.

In contrast, Dr. World suggests that going to a new dentist who is unfamiliar with your past dental experiences and treatment could result in diagnoses that aren’t quite necessary or in your best interest.  “A long-term dentist can help you make plans for possible future dental work based on your unique past,” Dr. World said.

Dr. World also noted that long-term relationships with staff members usually result in better and more personalized care.  “After awhile, staff members begin to understand a patient’s special needs, likes and dislikes.  This can make a huge difference in a patient’s experience with a dental office,” Dr. World added.

Dr. World studied medicinal chemistry at the University of Utah and received his dental degree at the University of Iowa in 1986, where he graduated at the top of his class.  Upon graduating, he entered into a partnership with Dr. Tom Broadbent and formed Pioneer Valley Dental.  He has been a member of the American Dental Association and the Utah Dental Association since 1986.  He served on the board for the Salt Lake Donated Dental facility, one of the nation’s only free clinics, for 10 years and served as chairman for two years.  He is currently one of Invisalign Orthodontic’s premier physicians and has been recognized as a leader in this field.
